Happy Valentine's Day. Is it any wonder all you need is love is stuck in my head?
I designed this a year ago, and never did anything with it. It never made it to the press, or into it's second proposed life as a silkscreen... but totally worth a second look. It just may have a new purpose that I haven't thought of yet.
"Have patience with everything unresolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves, as if they were locked rooms or books written in a very foreign language. Don't search for the answers, which could not be given to you now, because you would not be able to live them. And the point is to live everything. Live the question now. Perhaps then, someday far in the future, you will gradually without even noticing, live your way into the answer." -Rainer Maria Rilke
The Liquid Shop is Open... & a give-a-way!
11.16.2008
After a year of being closed down, I'm very pleased to announce that the Liquid Shop is live again!
To celebrate, I'm giving away 2 card sets that I designed for PaPaYa!, through the liquid shop (winners choice!).
Comment telling me your favorite inspirational quote here before Saturday Nov. 22 to be included in the drawing. Currently mine is by Eleanor Roosevelt who said, "Do one thing every day that scares you."
I'll pick a random winner through the comments left on this post on Saturday (Nov. 22) and announce the result here. Please leave your email, so I can contact you if you've won. Thanks!
My jewelry studio has been back in action, and I'm planning to make the liquid sky arts shop live again this November for the holidays with a few new pieces. This sparrow necklace will be one of them.

Here's a little glimpse into a corner of my home studio. I used Vintage Tangerine wrapping paper designed by Pamela Garrison on my cork board that I made a few years back from an old picture frame. I'd love to make an oversized chalkboard like this too. Floor to ceiling!
Just a quick buzz... Here's what's brewing this year in the Liquid shop for the holidays. I'll be adding new jewelry throughout the month of November. Revisiting old favorites, and adding in some new surprise designs.
Did you notice my blog looks so much cleaner, and organized now?! It wouldn't of been possible without the talent and generosity from my good friend Yvonne at Yvestown. For some reason I can never seem to sort out the glitches with blogger html codes, I'm so grateful that she came to my rescue. Because of the time difference from Holland to the US west coast, she was actually working on this while I was sleeping last night. It was such a surprise to see all of my old archives from 2003 visible on the sidebar this morning... oh my gosh. It was kind of akin to the feeling of having your skirt tossed up in the schoolyard in elementary school! I can't believe some of the stuff I wrote when I first started this blog. So needless to say, this morning I cleaned up the archives a bit. Funny stuff. Thanks so much again Yvonne!
For those of you who have been asking about Par Avion and sparrow pendants, I'm working on a little shop update today. I've decided to discontinue making jewelry after this update for awhile so I can refocus my creative energy. It always feels good to change things up a bit. I'm super excited about continuing designing for PaPaYa and also craving to get back to basics with my artwork. So it's a good thing... really!
Today was such a whirlwind of emotions. I started off the morning feeling heavy and distracted by all of the unfinished renovation in our home, later flipping to the other extreme of being over-the-moon excited when this amazing package from PaPaYa! arrived on our doorstep. Opening it up revealed piles of my card designs all printed and dolled up in PaPaYa's lovely packaging alongside the lovliest printed envelope sets I've ever laid eyes on by Anahata.
I had to take this photograph of the box (above), filled to the brim... total bliss!
I'm super thrilled to finally be able to show you all what I've been working on for the past few months. My line of cards with PaPaYa is now beginning to debut on their website and more visual treats are in the works.
Here's a sneak peek at some of the holiday cards... but if you're like me the word Christmas doesn't get uttered until late November, so shh---- I don't want to stress anyone!
By chance, does anyone have this issue of the Danish magazine BoligLiv?
What an amazing thing serendipity is! Recently my friend Monica, just by total coincidence saw a scan of this page from a recent issue of the magazine BoligLiv (via Karkovski ) that Liquid Sky Arts was featured in. (If she hadn't seen it, I'm positive I would've missed knowing about it. Fantastic fate!)
It would mean so much to me, if anyone with this issue would be willing to send me a copy. In return I'll send you a unique necklace from my loveletters collection, similar to the one pictured here.
Edit: * Thanks so much Lea and Kirsten for your quick help with translating and sending the magazine. I'll be sending some special Liquid Sky Arts treats in the mail to you soon! *
After a long break, the Liquid Shop is finally back open. Just in time for the holidays. I'd love it if you'd take a visit!
(My efforts to send out this message to everyone who joined the mailing list were foiled due to a computer glitch over at notify list. I'm still trying to figure out what went wrong. I'm so sorry!!)
Here's a little peek into my new home studio. I love the light in this room. I'm thinking of painting the chairs "Yvestown" pink and the back wall facing the windows in there with chalkboard paint, so I can leave notes to myself. I tend to feel overwhelmed with too many crowded thoughts competing over each other most of the time, so I've learned to become an avid list-maker. Plus, having a wall to write on just sounds fun. The floors still need to be sanded and re-finished this summer. The rain-y season literally put a "damper" on getting some of our renovation done, but that's ok.
Shawn bought me these tall partitioned craft drawers to (help) organize my cards, and beads recently. He likes to joke that if he can train me to be organized, then he can do anything in the world. Rightly so!
Right now on my inspiration board: I found these Andy Warhol stamps the other night while sifting through boxes in the basement. Soon to be made into pendants to add to my par avion series. The idea came from all of the old letters I saved from penpals over the years. I love all of the foreign stamps, the personal handwriting, the postmarks. I've always wanted to make something with them, and have been saving them for years. Finally inspiration hit!
I'm actually on the hunt for art stamps (from all countries). Does anyone know of any links to shops that sell them, or have any to spare?
