Susan over at shoesandships tagged me yesterday (all the way from Sweden) with this music meme. It's been funny to click through everyone else's answers. The music we listen to is all too revealing...
1. Total amount of music files on your computer: 10.24 GB (room to grow)
2. The last CD you bought was: The Delays ~ Faded Seaside Glamour.
3. What is the song you last listened to before reading this message? Gypsy ~ Fleetwood Mac
4. Write down 5 songs you often listen to or that mean a lot to you.
Warm Sound ~ Zero 7. You can't hide from the truth when you use itunes, this is the most played song in my online music library. Yikes...talk about obsessive. (Listen to warm sound played live on kcrw, it's the first song.)
Mangerine Melodie ~ Stereolab. It's the kind of song, where you involuntarily start dancing. If you're in your chair it may just be a head bob or a foot tap, if you're on the floor watch out! It always gets me in a good mood, a very fun song on road-trips! (Listen real audio)
Breathe ~ Telepopmusik. Have you ever noticed how all of the best songs are played on car commercials? I heard a snippet of this song for the first time during an advertisment for the mitsubishi eclipse 3 years ago. The girl in the passenger seat was dancing with her hands while lip synching. Stuck in my head, and not knowing who the group was, I found it after obsessively searching on the internet under "mitsubishi commercial". Incidentally that's also how I first found Nick Drake's song Pink Moon (old jetta commercial), and Bill Wither's "lovely day" (old gap commercial). (Listen to Breathe real audio via Bigbaer)
Mayfly ~ Rasputina. I've gone through many mad cycles of songs on repeat with Rasputina, this is my current favorite. The reason I love them, they are the only band I can think of that can combine classical, rock, ambient, industrial, and pop music into a seamless whole. ( listen to a clip via Amazon)
I'd rather dance with you ~ the King's of Convenience. I couldn't possibly resist them, after I watched this video.
5. Who are you going to pass this stick to? (3 persons) and why? Christina (my sister), she often associates music with her artwork so I think her answers will be interesting. Giao, because I know she's a fellow music junkie, and Yvonne because I'm curious what's being listened to in Holland.
Recently Kim at littlesomethings had posted about a very whimsical bed that she had painted as a fundraiser for her local little leauge. Pictured in the garden, it instantly reminded me of the "garden bed" (quite literally) at my favorite nursery a.k.a. my "happy place". I was hoping today to get a better shot of it. In the spring they move the bed to the front of the nursery to showcase it's blooms (unlike today, where it sat back in a dark corner). When it's newly planted the dresser drawers spill over with pansies, and a crystal chandelier hangs overhead. The glass votive holders are replaced with tiny terracotta pots that grow long trailing ivy. Cute little topiary form slippers green with baby's breath ground cover, and a faux rug that says Mary's room grown from Irish moss lay on the side of the bed. It's oh-so-clever!
My gifty arrived today, from my very favorite drama queen!
Included in my treat stash:
Bath goodies from the sleep aromatherapy series via Bath & Bodyworks.
a beautiful handmade card (Alexis I hadn't realized you were so crafty!)
glossy argyle box filled with yummy teas which were all bundled in a silky ribbon with a very special gift tag. There is something so endearing about seeing your name displayed so artfully. I love it.
Unfortunately, the chocolate that Alexis sent was not available for photographs. Sorry the temptation was too severe. I think Just Jill said it best the other day when she received her gifty, "I got CHOCOLATES~ Don't be haten' ".
Big thanks to Alexis for the wonderful gifty, and Leslie for dreaming up and coordinating this fun idea! If you'd like to get in on the gifty exchange on round 3 watch rubber-sol's blog for updates...I promise, it's all too addicting!
I have to admit, that I wasn't going to post this...it's one of those things that was created late night, possibly after consuming too much wine and chocolate. But after reading Kim's post today about actor Matthew Goode being better than Hugh Grant, I just couldn't resist. The quality is horrible, but I think you'll find it amusing anyway. Now watch & learn Kim...we'll make a true Hugh convert out of you yet!
Some new things, I've been working on for the (phantom) liquid shop. The glass marble pins were inspired by a very crafty maven who lives in my neighborhood. She was taking "the tour" of our house, and spotted my marble magnets on the fridge and said, "Hey, I do that"! The conversation quickly turned into a fun show and tell. I brought out all of my crazy cigar box creations and decoupage jewelry bits. Later we went to her house and she pulled out a box of marble pins. I couldn't stop thinking about them, so I had to dabble a little. These are the first two I've made, it's all too addicting.
Thank you for sending all of those wonderful comments over my sister's way. I think it really got her creative juices flowing, she just finished & posted two new pieces. She's just getting her feet wet in the world of blogs, and I'm really excited that she's finally getting into it. There are too many miles between us, so it's a fun way for me to get to see her new work too.
