After a long break, the Liquid Shop is finally back open. Just in time for the holidays. I'd love it if you'd take a visit!
(My efforts to send out this message to everyone who joined the mailing list were foiled due to a computer glitch over at notify list. I'm still trying to figure out what went wrong. I'm so sorry!!)
Here's a little peek into my new home studio. I love the light in this room. I'm thinking of painting the chairs "Yvestown" pink and the back wall facing the windows in there with chalkboard paint, so I can leave notes to myself. I tend to feel overwhelmed with too many crowded thoughts competing over each other most of the time, so I've learned to become an avid list-maker. Plus, having a wall to write on just sounds fun. The floors still need to be sanded and re-finished this summer. The rain-y season literally put a "damper" on getting some of our renovation done, but that's ok.
Shawn bought me these tall partitioned craft drawers to (help) organize my cards, and beads recently. He likes to joke that if he can train me to be organized, then he can do anything in the world. Rightly so!
Right now on my inspiration board: I found these Andy Warhol stamps the other night while sifting through boxes in the basement. Soon to be made into pendants to add to my par avion series. The idea came from all of the old letters I saved from penpals over the years. I love all of the foreign stamps, the personal handwriting, the postmarks. I've always wanted to make something with them, and have been saving them for years. Finally inspiration hit!
I'm actually on the hunt for art stamps (from all countries). Does anyone know of any links to shops that sell them, or have any to spare?
I had a dream last night, that I was driving through the snowy hills of Astoria. When I woke up I pulled back the drapes, and squealed with happiness. There it was... after record breaking rain storms, a soft white blanket of snow had enveloped our world last night. Being raised in Southern California, this actually was my first snow experienced at home. Ever.
So, watching the snow drifting past my window this morning, surrounded by the Christmas garlands twirled with fairy lights that were neatly hung over Thanksgiving weekend was pure magic for me. What a lovely day.
It reminded me of one of my favorite quotes from the character Katherine in the movie under the Tuscan Sun. "Never lose your childish innocence. It's the most important thing."
That movie and our life run a few parrallel lines. Rennovating an older home, and moving away from everything we were so used to. A few people even warned us that leaving Southern California to move to the Northern coast of Oregon was a terrible idea too.
Hillary posted this Tord Boontje garland made for Target. (Can you believe it?! Beautiful design sold for the masses, there really is a God!)
Jenny writes with such a beautiful perspective, and insight. I love the way she looks at life. Her family took the plunge recently and followed their wanderlust moving to Uruguay! I love this photo that her husband took of her with her new little friend.
I've been long obsessed with bearded collies. Shawn's been warned somewhere down the line that we have to have one. Have you ever seen one walk? They bounce!
This photo of Dumbledore's army from the upcoming Harry Potter film "Order of the Phoenix". Source from the Leaky Cauldron. Ah, it kills me... The wait!
