I completely flipped recently over Juju's beaded stars from the sneak peak she gives of her upcoming beading book Creative Beading. (It doesn't come out until August, but if you're overly anxious like me you can pre-order it from amazon!)
On Friday I got a really nice surprise in my email, when she sent me the instructions from her book on how to make them. I had to try experimenting once I finally got a free moment over the weekend, making them is so entirely addictive. If I hadn't started creating them so late in the evening, I would of surely made more!
Over the weekend I noticed that the upcoming crochet installment of Stitch' N Bitch books, by Debbie Stoller had a very familiar character on the cover. I felt a kind of internal squeal when I realized that sure enough it was Camilla Engman's crocheted bear. How fun!
More paper will be available in the shop soon, big thanks to everyone who've already placed orders. Everything has been shipped and is on it's way. (The shop page, will be down today while I update the design.)

There are so many pretty little things to look at in my aunts home that I always feel compelled to take a picture (or two) every time I visit.
One of which, featuring this Chinese Chippendale style chair inspired a bit of a virtual treasure hunt for me today since it reminded me so much of a similar chair that I've been eyeing for the past week in House & Garden magazine. So I dragged and dropped a few things with the chair (from H & G) that have recently caught my eye. It's a bit of a covet list really.
I've been wanting to get on this computer to post here like mad for the past few days, but things kept coming up and I had to keep putting it off. My apologies! This week has been such a great one for fun mail. I got the most wonderful package from Joleen yesterday. We decided to do a trade awhile back, I sent her one of my handpainted sparrow necklaces and she sent me the cutest cherry blossom wristlet in return. It's from her up-and-coming shop Love Joleen. She nailed down my taste so perfectly, I really love it!
Yankee Girl and I also recently decided to do a trade. Over the weekend she sent the prettiest little package of bits and bobs from her shop. Everything was so tiny I found it difficult to photograph it all (my camera doesn't do macro), but here you can see the purple jade necklace, felted flower pin and the "Anne Taintor" inspired soap that she sent. There was also a bag full of unique pendants and handmade charms, and even a little cell phone bling!
Trades are great fun, I'm still working on her return package. Part of it will undoubtedly be some of the printed cards I've been working on. The thing I love best about making things yourself are the personal touches that come with your own sense of style and taste. I've been busily making screens with beautiful Asian motifs, and I just finished an art nouveau copper inked fairy series of cards and envelopes that I'm really in love with.
Part of the fun of silk-screening stationary, and handmade papers for me has been toying with the packaging. Now, I can't quite decide which part I like better since I'm a person who loves to wrap things! Everything is still in the experimental stages for me, but you can see the direction I'm headed with this beautiful webpage that DC made after she received her goodies from the Cocaktiel name contest. I really adore how she photographed and arranged it...seeing this was such a treat for me.
Here are some bright green cherry blossom cards, in their tell-tale liquid sky arts wrapping too. Hopefully these and other screened papers will make their way into the shop soon.
Thank you so much for all of your comments regarding name suggestions for the new cocaktiel.
After going back and forth between the names Giles & Hugh, and asking opinions from those closest to me. None of us could resist the thought of having this little stray cockatiel as the mascot of the "Unofficial We Love Hugh Grant But Aren't Really Smitten By Him Fanclub". So we're going straight for the gusto and calling him by the full name "Hugh Grant". It's a stroke of genius really, big thanks to Yvonne for that brilliant answer!
If you're new to reading this blog, you may want to refer to the following posts in order to get up to speed about all of the previous Hugh Grant Shenanigans of 2005: See exhibit A, and exhibit B.
I'd like to send along a little something special for dcknits too...since I have a strong feeling Giles is a name I'll want to give to the next member of this fine menangerie. Plus I always had an affinity for this Giles(*sigh*...yes it's true).
