I've been wanting to get on this computer to post here like mad for the past few days, but things kept coming up and I had to keep putting it off. My apologies! This week has been such a great one for fun mail. I got the most wonderful package from Joleen yesterday. We decided to do a trade awhile back, I sent her one of my handpainted sparrow necklaces and she sent me the cutest cherry blossom wristlet in return. It's from her up-and-coming shop Love Joleen. She nailed down my taste so perfectly, I really love it!
Yankee Girl and I also recently decided to do a trade. Over the weekend she sent the prettiest little package of bits and bobs from her shop. Everything was so tiny I found it difficult to photograph it all (my camera doesn't do macro), but here you can see the purple jade necklace, felted flower pin and the "Anne Taintor" inspired soap that she sent. There was also a bag full of unique pendants and handmade charms, and even a little cell phone bling!
Trades are great fun, I'm still working on her return package. Part of it will undoubtedly be some of the printed cards I've been working on. The thing I love best about making things yourself are the personal touches that come with your own sense of style and taste. I've been busily making screens with beautiful Asian motifs, and I just finished an art nouveau copper inked fairy series of cards and envelopes that I'm really in love with.
Part of the fun of silk-screening stationary, and handmade papers for me has been toying with the packaging. Now, I can't quite decide which part I like better since I'm a person who loves to wrap things! Everything is still in the experimental stages for me, but you can see the direction I'm headed with this beautiful webpage that DC made after she received her goodies from the Cocaktiel name contest. I really adore how she photographed and arranged it...seeing this was such a treat for me.
Here are some bright green cherry blossom cards, in their tell-tale liquid sky arts wrapping too. Hopefully these and other screened papers will make their way into the shop soon.
