I'm really behind in blogging, since our little world here is all upside down from house renovation. The idea surfaced quite suddenly to finally just cave and hire people to come in and finish all of the woodwork and refinish the floors (for the past few years we've been trying to do everything ourselves, can you see the crazy rollover?). In doing so all of our furniture is getting shuffled around. Our stove is currently sitting outside on the back porch, our couch on the driveway, and next week the computer goes in a box for a few days. I got so excited about the notion of things finally getting finished, that it didn't really occur to me all of the craziness that goes with it! Right before Christmas, all of this is beginning to feel especially insane. When all of this is done, I'll be in such a happy state of mind!
Last weekend we went to visit my fabulous auntie, and just fell in love with this plastic chandelier that she recently bought at a really fun boutique called Marz. in S. Pasadena. We took a visit there and I bought some beautiful screened papers, and a few fun things for our Christmas Eve party's "White Elephant" exchange (White elephant = silly gift). We also took a visit to a really wonderful duo of stores called "The Folk Tree Collection" (Jill just wrote a great piece about this shop and others in the area, you can check it out at: Jill's Living Room), and lastly visited my own little Mecca in the world The paper source where I picked up some lovely photo frame cards with a cute scalloped edge for holiday greetings. I still need to take this years photo, some of you may remember last years shenanigans with my dogs!
Tis' also the season for making tons of sparrow necklaces for special orders. Wow, my huge stash of capiz shells is actually gone! It's been a good past-time for me while of of this nuttiness has been going on at home, I put on my headphones and drown out all of the scraping and sanding sounds and enter my little world of painting, beading and wrapping...not feeling odd at all that I'm doing this sitting at my dining room table outside in the middle of our garden! Even with the craziness of renovation everything still feels pretty good, creating can be such a great escape at times. I'm really looking forward to updating the little wrapping gallery I recently started on flickr once I'm back online. I'll be back soon after the dust settles (literally), wish me luck I think I'm gonna need it!
P.S. Here's a real online treat for you while I'm away! These are two new blogs that I just recently discovered and am so smitten with: {Oh Joy!} & Rosey Little Things.
