I just discovered a new family owned craftstore chain in my area, that has aisles and aisles of beautiful imported yarns. The temptation overtook me, I had to indulge. The hardest part was deciding which yarn combination to buy. In the end I chose an Italian yarn called Medley, from Berroco.
I decided to knit a skinny scarf since I'm still at the beginners stage of knitting. I'm learning through Debbie Stoller's infamous book. She explains things in a non-technical language that pretty much anyone could understand. I highly recommend it, if not only for the unusual patterns.
If you love hand-made scarves like I do, be sure to check out the incredible patterns page at berroco. They really have some unique special effects going on there.
At the moment my dining room table is filled with a sea of babies, for a shower I am helping to put together this weekend. The lucky wearer of the yellow ink splotched diapered baby wins. It's terribly uncomplicated...but the pins look (almost annoyingly) sweet. Which made fumbling around with tiny felt diapers and a hot glue gun, totally worth the effort.
If I had a big event in my life to announce like a wedding, baby, graduation, gallery opening, etc.
I would definitely have to try using this new fangled service called "photo stamps". Your photo on real postage. Really... it's about time someone thought of that.
